When you buy products from several Alibaba suppliers, having each supplier ship internationally on their own can make your logistics more complicated and potentially increase your overall shipping costs. A better approach can be to send the different orders to one China warehouse and consolidate them into a single shipment.

This process is useful for importers, wholesalers and ecommerce businesses buying from multiple suppliers.

How to Consolidate Alibaba Packages

1. Choose a China Consolidation Warehouse

First, arrange a reliable warehouse or freight forwarding service in China that can receive packages from multiple Alibaba suppliers.

The warehouse should be able to receive, identify, store and consolidate your packages before international shipping.

2. Give Each Supplier the Warehouse Address

Instead of asking your Alibaba suppliers to ship directly to your country, provide them with the warehouse’s Chinese delivery address.

Make sure every supplier knows that the goods are being sent to your designated warehouse for international forwarding.

3. Track Every Supplier Shipment

Alibaba suppliers may use different domestic courier companies, so keep the tracking number for every package.

Record the supplier name, Alibaba order number, tracking number, product description and expected package quantity. This helps the warehouse identify your packages when they arrive.

4. Receive and Check the Packages

When the packages reach the warehouse, they can be recorded and checked against your order information.

Depending on the service you choose, the warehouse may provide arrival photos, check the outer packaging, confirm package quantities and report visible damage.

A basic warehouse check is not necessarily a full product quality inspection, so arrange a more detailed inspection if your products require one.

5. Wait for Other Suppliers

Your Alibaba suppliers may finish production at different times. A consolidation warehouse can hold eligible packages while you wait for the remaining orders, subject to its storage terms.

This means you do not necessarily have to ship every supplier’s order as soon as it arrives.

6. Consolidate and Repack the Cargo

Once the relevant orders have arrived, the warehouse can combine compatible packages into fewer cartons or a larger consolidated shipment.

Unnecessary outer packaging may be removed where appropriate, while fragile goods can be given additional protection.

7. Choose Your International Shipping Method

After consolidation, the final weight and dimensions can be confirmed.

Air freight is generally suitable for smaller or urgent shipments, while sea freight is usually more practical for larger or heavier cargo. LCL can be used when your cargo does not require a full container.

Consolidation can reduce duplicated shipping and handling, but it does not automatically guarantee a lower cost. The final price depends on factors such as chargeable weight, volume, cargo type, destination and shipping method.

What Information Should You Give the Warehouse?

Before your suppliers dispatch the goods, provide:

  • Alibaba order numbers
  • Supplier names
  • Domestic tracking numbers
  • Product descriptions
  • Expected number of packages
  • Estimated weight and dimensions
  • Destination country and city
  • Any special handling requirements

Clear identification is important when several suppliers are sending packages to the same warehouse.
