Bus companies that run Lagos to Ghana
- GIGM (God Is Good Motors). Sells Lagos to Cotonou, Lomé and Accra tickets on its booking site and app. Lagos departures leave from the Jibowu terminal.
- GUO Transport. Runs Accra services from Lagos, Abuja and Onitsha, and books online at guotransport.com.
- ABC Transport. Lists a Lagos to Accra route on its website. In 2023 it left from Festac.

The driving time is usually 9 to 12 hours. Border checks can add anything from 30 minutes to several hours, especially at Seme and Aflao, so plan for a long day.
Documents you need to travel to Ghana by road
- International passport, valid for the whole trip (some guides advise at least six months of validity). An ECOWAS travel certificate is accepted as an alternative by many travellers, and our guide to the ECOWAS passport vs international passport explains the difference.
- Yellow fever certificate. The UK government’s Ghana entry requirements page (updated 15 September 2026) states that you must have proof of yellow fever vaccination to enter Ghana. Carry the original card.
- No visa for Nigerians. As ECOWAS citizens, Nigerians do not need a visa to enter Ghana.
- Extra ID and copies of your passport data page, kept separate from the originals.

How to book a bus from Lagos to Ghana
- Pick your operator and date, and compare at least two fares.
- Book online (GIGM app or site, guotransport.com) or at the terminal, or send Travo a request.
- Confirm the departure terminal and time. Many buses leave early in the morning.
- Check your passport and yellow fever card the night before.
- Arrive at the terminal at least an hour early for luggage checks.

- Carry small naira and CFA notes for food and incidentals. Change money only at recognised bureaux.
