What is Uber Black?
On Uber’s Nigeria ride-options page, Uber Black is described as “premium rides in luxury cars” and Uber Black SUV as “premium rides for 6 in luxury SUVs”. The same page lists UberX, Uber Comfort (“newer cars with extra legroom”), UberXL, Uber Reserve and Hourly, but it adds that certain options “vary by country, region, and city”. The page is a global product list, not a list of what runs in Lagos.

How to check whether Uber Black is available for your trip
- Open the Uber app and set your pickup point in Lagos (or use Reserve to plan ahead).
- Enter your destination and scroll through every ride option shown.
- If Black or Black SUV isn’t listed, it isn’t available for that trip at that time. Comfort or XL may be the closest options that do appear.
- Check the car model and plate in the app before you get in, whatever tier you book.
Lagos airport pickups in 2026
Airport arrivals are where most people look for Uber Black. In August 2026, Channels TV reported a backlash after an airport desk quoted a visitor ₦30,000 to Ikeja GRA. The same trip was booked for ₦6,100 on inDrive once he had left the airport grounds. FAAN said its restrictions on e-hailing were driven by regulatory, safety and security concerns. It had since cleared Bolt to return to its airports and said discussions with Uber were in their final stages.
