Railway stations in Nigeria serve as important points for passenger travel, freight movement and connections between major cities. Nigeria’s railway network includes both older narrow-gauge lines and newer standard-gauge corridors.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) currently operates major passenger services including the Lagos–Ibadan, Abuja–Kaduna and Warri–Itakpe routes. (Nigerian Railway Corporation)

Other Railway Stations and Railway Locations

Nigeria’s wider railway network also includes railway locations in cities such as Kano, Zaria, Minna, Ilorin, Osogbo, Port Harcourt, Aba, Umuahia and Enugu.

However, a railway station being part of the national network does not necessarily mean that it currently has regular passenger services. Train operations depend on the route, timetable, maintenance and operational status.

Train Travel in Nigeria

Passengers should confirm the latest timetable before travelling because departure times and available services can change. NRC currently publishes schedules for its major passenger routes. (Nigerian Railway Corporation)

Passengers should also travel with valid identification and their train ticket. NRC states that passenger tickets have assigned seat numbers and that passengers must comply with their allocated seating arrangements. (Nigerian Railway Corporation)
