Quick answer

Temu has sold to Nigerian shoppers since November 2024, and early reports put delivery at about 7–15 days from China, though customs checks, festive peaks and the last leg to your door can push it past two weeks. Orders worth under US$300 fall under Nigeria Customs’ duty-free (de minimis) threshold, which each person can use once per quarter; anything above that attracts normal duties. Budget separately for local delivery if your parcel lands at a pickup point or in another city.

Parcel boxes ready for delivery in Nigeria

Temu’s low prices are the easy part. The questions Nigerian buyers actually search for are how long the order will take, whether customs will charge them, and what happens once the parcel reaches Nigeria. This guide answers those three questions with the latest figures we could verify, and shows where a local courier fits in.

Is Temu available in Nigeria?

Yes. Temu launched in Nigeria in November 2024 and quickly topped the Google Play rankings, according to TechCabal. Nigerian shoppers can pay in naira: BusinessDay reported that Temu accepts naira debit cards and bank transfers, and Silicon Africa notes it takes naira payments “much like AliExpress”. Silicon Africa also reports that Temu works with the local logistics firms Flyt Express and Speedaf for delivery in Nigeria.

How long does Temu take to deliver to Nigeria?

BusinessDay put Temu’s delivery window for Nigeria at 7–15 days, against 15–30 days for AliExpress. Treat that as a guide, not a promise: user complaints about slow delivery are common, and the estimate shown at checkout is the one to plan around. The table shows what adds time at each stage.

Stage What happens What can slow it down
1. Order and dispatch Seller packs the item; Temu consolidates it for export Items from different sellers ship separately, so one order can arrive in several parcels
2. International freight Parcels fly from Asia to Nigeria in consolidated loads Peak seasons (Black Friday, December) and airline capacity
3. Nigeria Customs Consignment is valued and checked against the de minimis rule Undervalued or restricted items, missing details, high-value orders
4. Local courier hand-over A Nigerian logistics partner sorts parcels by city Deliveries outside Lagos and Abuja usually take longer
5. Last mile Door delivery or collection from a pickup point Wrong phone number, incomplete address, rider not able to reach you

Do you pay customs duty on Temu orders in Nigeria?

It depends on the value. BusinessDay explains that Nigeria Customs Service applies a US$300 de minimis threshold: low-value consignments below it attract no customs duty, and the article names Temu, Shein, Amazon and AliExpress orders as covered. There is a catch: each person can use the exemption only once per quarter (four times a year, with no roll-over).

Order situation What to expect
Under US$300, first low-value import this quarter No customs duty under the de minimis rule
Under US$300, but you already used the exemption this quarter Normal duties may apply; confirm with the courier or Nigeria Customs
Over US$300 Standard tariffs and customs procedures apply
Value understated or order split to dodge the limit Risk of penalties, including forfeiture of the goods

The local delivery part many buyers forget

Temu’s delivery ends where its courier partner’s network ends. If the parcel is dropped at a pickup point, sent to the wrong city, or you ordered for a relative in another state, you pay to move it again. Typical Lagos dispatch prices, from a VisCorner price schedule, are below.

Local move Typical dispatch price
Pickup within the same area (Lagos or Abuja) Usually not more than ₦3,000
Lekki / Ikoyi / Lagos Island to Agege / Ikeja ₦4,500–₦10,500
Ikorodu / Ajah to Agege / Ikeja ₦4,500–₦7,500
Lagos to Ogun ₦4,000–₦8,000
Lagos to Ibadan / Oyo ₦4,000–₦9,000

Source: VisCorner, updated 3 September 2025. Transport costs have risen since: the NBS put average okada fares up 56.20% year on year in April 2026 (Nairametrics), so expect quotes at the upper end.

When Temu won’t ship an item to Nigeria

Some products and sellers do not ship to Nigerian addresses. In that case, shoppers often use a forwarding address abroad and ship the parcel on to Nigeria. Travo offers this through a US shipping address and explains the process in Temu US forwarding address for Nigerians. Forwarding adds a second freight charge, so compare the landed cost with a local seller before you commit.

How to order from Temu with fewer problems

  1. Use your full address with a landmark, and a phone number you answer. Most failed deliveries come down to a rider who cannot reach you.
  2. Keep each order under US$300 if you want to stay within the duty-free threshold, and remember it is once per quarter.
  3. Check the estimated delivery date at checkout, and avoid ordering time-sensitive items in late November and December.
  4. Screenshot the order confirmation and save the tracking number. Our package tracking guide covers the main couriers.
  5. If the parcel will stop at a pickup point, book the onward move before it arrives so it does not sit for days.

Buying Temu stock for a small business

Resellers face the same rules at a bigger scale. Several orders in one quarter will not all qualify for the duty-free threshold, and commercial quantities can be treated as imports rather than personal parcels. Price in duty, the local courier leg and some damaged or missing items before you set your selling price. If you are comparing platforms, see online stores that ship to Nigeria.

Common mistakes with Temu orders

  • Assuming the price at checkout is the final cost, without allowing for duty or the last-mile delivery.
  • Splitting a large order into small ones to dodge customs. BusinessDay warns that undervaluation can lead to forfeiture.
  • Ordering bulky or fragile items without thinking about how they will travel from the pickup point.
  • Using an old phone number or an address without a landmark.

Do I pay customs duty on Temu orders?

Not if the order is under US$300 and you have not used the de minimis exemption that quarter, according to BusinessDay’s explanation of the Nigeria Customs Service rule. Orders over US$300 attract normal duties.

Can I pay for Temu in naira?

Yes. BusinessDay and Silicon Africa both report that Temu accepts naira payments, including naira debit cards and bank transfers.

Silicon Africa reports that Temu works with Flyt Express and Speedaf in Nigeria. Check your tracking page to see which courier has your parcel.

What if my Temu parcel is delivered to the wrong city or a pickup point?

Book a local courier to collect it. Within the same area in Lagos or Abuja, dispatch usually costs up to ₦3,000 (VisCorner); longer or interstate moves cost more.

Can I use Temu to buy stock for resale?

Yes, but budget for duty on higher-value or repeat orders, the local delivery leg and some losses. Commercial quantities may be treated as regular imports.
