Quick answer

Delta Express does not publish a dated online fare table that we could verify, so confirm its price at the terminal before you pay. As a 2026 benchmark, operators that do publish prices charge about ₦32,000–₦41,650 from Lagos to Warri, ₦25,000–₦41,100 from Lagos to Asaba and ₦25,000–₦37,000 from Lagos to Benin, depending on the company and bus class. Expect Delta Express to fall inside or near these bands, and check before you travel.

What we know about Delta Express fares in 2026

Delta Express appears in several Nigerian bus directories as an operator on Lagos–Delta routes. We could not find an official Delta Express website or a dated price list that we could open and check. The earlier version of this page gave fare ranges that we could not trace to a source, so we have removed them rather than repeat them.

What we can give you instead is a verified picture of what the same trips cost with operators that publish fares, with the date and source for each figure. That tells you whether the price you are quoted at the park is fair.

One common mix-up: Delta Express is not the same company as Delta Line. If you are looking for Delta Line, see our Delta Line transport price list.

How long is Lagos to Asaba by road?

Rome2Rio puts the drive from Lagos to Asaba at about 270 miles (roughly 435 km) and a little over six hours of driving without delays. Scheduled buses take longer: its listings show about 7 hours 15 minutes from Mazamaza to Onitsha, and up to 12 hours from Jibowu once stops and traffic are included. Asaba faces Onitsha across the River Niger, and GIGM prices Lagos–Asaba and Lagos–Onitsha as one route, so ask whether an Onitsha-bound bus will stop at Asaba.

If time matters more than cost, Rome2Rio lists about five flights a day from Lagos to Asaba International Airport, taking roughly 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes in the air. See our Lagos to Delta flight price guide for air fares.

Why Delta route fares keep rising

  • Fuel. Diesel rose to ₦2,000–₦2,020 a litre in Abuja in early September 2026, up from ₦1,700–₦1,800, according to P.M. News. Operators pass these costs on quickly.
  • Inflation in transport generally. The NBS put the average intercity bus fare at ₦9,699.55 in May 2026, 21.89% higher than a year earlier, as reported by Legit.ng.
  • Bus class. GIGM’s Lagos–Asaba band runs from ₦25,500 to ₦41,100 because its standard buses and premium buses are priced very differently.
  • Season. Christmas, Easter and Sallah weeks bring higher fares and sell-outs on Lagos–Delta routes.

How to book Delta Express or another Delta bus

  1. Decide your drop-off: Warri, Asaba, Sapele, Ughelli or Agbor. If a bus is marked for Onitsha, ask whether it stops at Asaba.
  2. Call or visit the Delta Express terminal a day or two before travel and ask for the fare, departure time and bus type. Ask whether the price includes luggage.
  3. Compare that quote against the tables above. If it is well outside the range, ask why (bus class, holiday surcharge) or check another operator.
  4. Pay only at the official counter or through a channel the company confirms, and keep your ticket or receipt.
  5. Arrive at least 45 minutes early for morning departures, which fill first.

If you would rather not chase quotes yourself, Travo can arrange interstate travel for you and confirm the price before you pay. Travo is a booking and logistics platform, not an agent of Delta Express or any other bus company.

Tips for a smoother Lagos–Delta trip

  • Travel early. Morning departures avoid most of the night-driving risk and the evening Lagos exit traffic.
  • Carry small cash for tolls, snacks and a tricycle at the other end.
  • Sending goods rather than travelling? Use a courier instead of giving a parcel to a bus driver. See delivery to Delta.
  • Compare Benin as a stopover. Benin fares from Lagos are lower, and it is a short onward trip to Warri or Asaba.
