How to ship with UPS from Nigeria

1. Weigh and measure your parcel. Couriers charge on the greater of actual weight and volumetric (size) weight.
2. Get a quote on the UPS Nigeria site’s calculator. Enter origin, destination, weight and dimensions.
3. Prepare customs paperwork. Describe the contents accurately, with their value and purpose (gift, sale, samples). Vague descriptions cause delays.
4. Book and pay online through “Ship Now”, or call the Gbagada office for help.
5. Hand over or arrange pickup, then keep the tracking number.

How much does UPS cost from Nigeria?

UPS does not publish a fixed naira tariff for Nigeria, and we could not verify any current price list, so we have removed the 2025 price table from this guide. The price you are quoted depends on:

• Chargeable weight: actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher.
• Destination zone: the USA, UK, Europe, Asia and other African countries are priced differently.
• Speed: faster express services cost more than economy or deferred options.
• Surcharges: fuel, remote-area and peak surcharges. Express carriers adjust fuel surcharges frequently. DHL’s Nigerian site, for example, lists weekly fuel-surcharge updates and demand surcharges in 2026.
• Exchange rate: naira quotes follow currency movements.
• Duties and taxes at the destination, which the receiver often pays.

2026 rule changes that affect shipments abroad

UPS’s Nigerian site flags several 2026 changes for shippers:

• EU duty exemption removed: the €150 threshold was eliminated from 1 July 2026, so low-value parcels to the EU can now attract duty.
• US CPSC eFiling: new compliance data requirements from 8 July 2026 for certain consumer products entering the USA.
• EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation: updates effective 12 August 2026.

Tips to avoid delays and extra charges

• Pack in a sturdy box, and put the recipient’s full name, address, postcode and phone number on it.
• Don’t ship prohibited or restricted items. Ask UPS first about food, medicines, liquids, batteries and cosmetics.
• Keep receipts or invoices for commercial goods.
• Only pay “release” or customs fees through official UPS channels, never to a personal account.
