Update, 2 October 2026: Uber has left Nigeria
Uber stopped operating in Nigeria on 2 September 2026, so the Uber app no longer takes rides, deliveries or new drivers here. Where this article mentions Uber, use another option instead. Bolt and inDrive still operate, or you can book a vetted driver on Travo. Compare options in our guide to Uber alternatives in Nigeria.
Using a taxi app in Lagos makes it easier to request a ride, check fares and connect with nearby drivers. With Uber no longer operating in Nigeria, commuters now have other options for getting around Lagos.
Bolt
Bolt is one of the most established ride-hailing options in Lagos. Passengers can request rides through the app for daily commuting, business trips and airport journeys.
inDrive
inDrive gives passengers more control over pricing by allowing them to suggest a fare and negotiate with drivers.
It can be useful when you want to compare prices or negotiate a suitable fare for a particular route.
LagRide
LagRide is a Lagos-focused transportation service that provides another option for commuters within the city.
Its availability and vehicle options can vary depending on the area and time of day.
How to Get a Cheap Taxi in Lagos
Compare fares on more than one taxi app before booking. Prices can change significantly during rush hours, rain and other periods of high demand.
Travelling outside peak periods and choosing an appropriate vehicle category can also help reduce transportation costs.
Safety When Using Taxi Apps
Always check the driver’s name, vehicle details and registration number before entering the car. Avoid accepting a different vehicle from the one displayed in the app.
For airport trips and important appointments, arrange your transportation early and allow extra time for Lagos traffic.
