Choosing a vendor in Lagos or elsewhere in Nigeria starts with the job you need completed. A trucking company, freight forwarder, warehouse, mechanic, caterer and technology provider take responsibility for different things. The right enquiry names the work, the handover points and the evidence of completion, rather than relying only on a broad supplier label.
Start with the result you need
For a shipment, describe the goods, locations, timing and handling needs. For a vehicle service, identify the asset and the required work. For business supplies or professional help, specify quantities or deliverables and acceptance criteria. Ask whether the provider performs the work itself or arranges another party. That distinction helps you understand the quotation and the point of contact if something changes.
For example, a carrier may move your container while another supplier clears it, a warehouse receives it and a last-mile team delivers individual orders. A 3PL may coordinate some of those functions, but the label does not automatically include all of them. Travo’s international shipping, warehouse fulfilment and business delivery pages help you frame related enquiries.

What to check before comparing vendor quotations
Give each proposed supplier the same scope: locations, date or period, quantities, specification, handling or access needs and the required completion record. Identify exclusions, taxes, mobilisation, waiting, returns and cancellation terms where relevant. A headline price is difficult to compare when one quote includes equipment or people and another does not.
Record who accepts the order, who can authorise a variation and who receives the completed work or goods. Ask how shortages, damage, missed appointments or service exceptions are reported. A useful booking record names the actual provider and responsibility rather than simply saying that a general vendor will handle everything.
Credentials, associations and regulators are different checks
Check relevant credentials with the appropriate issuer or authority for the service being offered. The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria describes its practitioner-registration framework. For a customs representation enquiry, use the Nigeria Customs Service as the official starting point. Do not treat association membership as a substitute for a credential required for a different activity.
For an insurer or insurance intermediary, verify the appropriate role and current status through NAICOM and read the applicable written terms. An old register entry, a logo or a general vendor listing does not establish current authorisation or the cover on your job. A training certificate should identify its issuer and purpose; it does not automatically grant a professional licence.

Ask Travo about the right vendor or service in Lagos
We can discuss logistics, transport, fulfilment, vendor onboarding and related business-service requirements. Tell us the outcome you need so we can identify the relevant service and confirm the available arrangement rather than assume a category label is a complete booking. Send Travo your Lagos vendor or service enquiry with the job, locations, dates, volumes and required outcome. We can discuss relevant services and coordination, then confirm the actual provider, availability, responsibilities and quote before booking.
Travo’s service catalogue includes vendor onboarding, business delivery, storage, transport, utilities and related support. A vendor category does not mean every supplier is listed, available or owned by Travo.
For existing examples, read the Nigeria 3PL guide, truck-fleet maintenance guide and bus operator and ticket-check guide.

Three Lagos buying situations: who should receive the enquiry?
| Situation | Lead enquiry | Other responsibilities to name |
|---|---|---|
| Imported stock needs delivery from port to customers | Freight forwarder or 3PL scope | Customs representation, port release, drayage, warehouse receiving and last-mile delivery. |
| A delivery fleet loses productive hours to faults | Fleet support and maintenance scope | Diagnosis, parts supply, fitting, testing, recovery and replacement vehicle arrangements. |
| An office needs recurring supplies and staff transport | Business and utility vendor scope | Goods specification, delivery windows, transport operator, acceptance records and invoicing. |
These are planning examples, not automatic packages. One provider may coordinate several stages, but ask which entity accepts responsibility for each handover. A shipping line does not automatically provide customs clearance, and a warehouse does not automatically include order fulfilment. A general vendor label should be replaced with the specific job before quotations are compared.
Use a written acceptance standard
For a delivery, agree the accepted quantity, condition and proof of handover. For a repair, agree the diagnosis, approved work, parts and verification process. For software, specify the demonstrated functions, access, support and data handover. For utilities or catering, describe quantity, quality expectations, delivery time and who can accept the order. This gives the buyer and supplier a shared basis for deciding whether the work is complete.
Where another specialist is needed, identify that party before paying. A cargo inspector reports within an agreed inspection scope; an insurance provider’s actual policy establishes coverage; a training provider’s certificate has a defined issuer and outcome. None of those roles should be assumed from an association membership or a directory category alone.
