Moving into or out of university accommodation can become stressful quickly, especially when you have boxes, bedding, electronics, books, cooking items and personal belongings to transport at once. For students searching for university moving near Abu Zaria, the main concern is usually finding a reliable way to move everything safely without paying for more transport than necessary.
Around Ahmadu Bello University and other student areas in Zaria, moving needs can range from a few bags between hostels to full room relocations involving furniture and appliances. Travo.ng can help coordinate student moving, vehicle hire, delivery and relocation support based on the amount of luggage involved and where it needs to go.
Moving Between Hostels and Off-Campus Accommodation
Students often move when changing hostels, graduating, starting a new academic session or relocating from campus accommodation to private housing.
A small move may involve:
- Suitcases and Ghana-Must-Go bags
- Mattresses and bedding
- Books and study materials
- Small refrigerators
- Standing fans
- Gas cookers and kitchen items
- Desks, chairs and storage boxes
The vehicle you need depends on the volume of your belongings. A student with several bags may only require a car or small vehicle, while someone moving furniture, appliances and multiple cartons may need a van or larger transport option.
Choosing the right vehicle helps prevent paying for unnecessary space.
Plan Your Move Around Busy University Periods
University moving near Abu Zaria can become more difficult during resumption, semester breaks and graduation periods. Many students are trying to move at the same time, and available vehicles can become harder to secure.
Booking early is particularly useful when parents are travelling into Zaria to help with a move.
Before the moving day, confirm:
- Pickup location
- Destination address
- Number of bags and cartons
- Large furniture or appliances
- Preferred pickup time
- Whether loading assistance is required
Giving accurate information makes it easier to arrange suitable transport and avoid last-minute vehicle changes.
Moving From Zaria to Another Nigerian City
Not every student move stays within Zaria.
Graduating students may need to move belongings from Zaria to Kaduna, Abuja, Kano, Lagos or another part of Nigeria. Interstate relocation needs more planning because the distance, vehicle type and amount of luggage affect the overall cost.
For example, moving a few packed boxes to Kaduna is very different from transporting a student’s complete room setup to Abuja or Lagos.
For longer trips, fragile items should be packed separately and clearly identified. Electronics such as televisions, laptops, printers and small refrigerators should be protected from movement during the journey.
Travo.ng can help coordinate transport and relocation arrangements for students moving locally or travelling to another state.
Avoid Packing Everything on the Morning of Your Move
One of the easiest ways to make university moving stressful is leaving all the packing until the vehicle arrives.
Start with items you do not use every day. Books, spare clothes and decorations can be packed first, while toiletries, chargers and important documents can remain accessible until moving day.
It also helps to label cartons according to their contents.
For example:
Books and school materials
Kitchen items
Clothes
Fragile electronics
This makes unloading easier, especially when several students are moving together.
Moving With Friends Can Reduce the Hassle
Students relocating from the same hostel or area sometimes combine transport when their destinations are close.
For example, two students moving from accommodation near ABU Zaria to different parts of Kaduna may be able to coordinate one larger vehicle instead of arranging separate trips.
However, belongings should be clearly labelled so bags and cartons do not get mixed up during unloading.
