Finding a reliable university moving company near UNILAG can save you from carrying boxes through campus, squeezing belongings into small cars, or making several expensive trips across Lagos.
Students around the University of Lagos regularly move between Akoka, Yaba, Bariga, Onike and other parts of Lagos. Some are moving into a hostel for a new semester, while others are leaving school accommodation, changing apartments or returning home after graduation.
Travo.ng helps coordinate student moving services, vehicle hire and transport so your belongings can be moved in one properly planned trip.
Moving Around UNILAG Is Different From a Regular House Move
A university move is usually smaller than relocating an entire family, but it still needs planning.
A typical student may have:
- Suitcases and clothing
- Mattress and bedding
- Reading tables and chairs
- Plastic storage boxes
- Fans
- Small refrigerators
- Cooking equipment
- Electronics
- Books and personal items
Trying to fit everything inside a regular taxi often leads to multiple journeys.
A suitable moving vehicle makes more sense, especially when moving from UNILAG to places like Surulere, Ikeja, Lekki, Maryland or the Lagos mainland.
What Size Vehicle Do You Actually Need?
The amount of luggage determines the most practical vehicle.
Someone moving two suitcases, a small box and bedding may only need a spacious car or SUV. A student with a mattress, refrigerator, table and several cartons will usually need a van or similar cargo vehicle.
Before booking, list your largest items first.
Give the moving team details about bulky furniture and appliances so the right vehicle arrives. Booking a vehicle that is too small can result in a second trip, which increases both moving time and cost.
What Affects the Cost of Student Moving Near UNILAG?
There is no single fixed price for every move.
The final cost normally depends on:
- Pickup and destination
- Number of belongings
- Vehicle size
- Number of people needed for loading
- Distance travelled
- Traffic conditions
- Number of trips required
- Whether items need packing assistance
A move from Akoka to Yaba will naturally involve less distance than relocating from UNILAG to Ajah or another part of Lagos.
For students working with a limited budget, the easiest way to reduce costs is to pack everything before the vehicle arrives and avoid unnecessary extra trips.
Avoid Moving During the Worst Lagos Traffic
Timing can make a major difference.
The roads around Yaba, Herbert Macaulay Way and the Third Mainland Bridge can become heavily congested during weekday rush hours. If your destination requires crossing Lagos, leaving during peak traffic can turn a straightforward move into several hours.
Where possible, arrange pickup outside the busiest morning and evening periods.
Semester resumption and school closing periods can also create higher demand for vehicles around university areas, so booking ahead is useful.
Pack Your Belongings Before Moving Day
Do not wait until the driver arrives before deciding what goes into each bag.
Pack books into smaller cartons because large boxes filled completely with books become extremely heavy. Wrap televisions, monitors and other electronics carefully, and keep chargers together.
Liquids and toiletries should be sealed separately so they do not leak onto clothes or documents.
Also keep important items such as your ID card, certificates, laptop, phone and wallet with you rather than placing them inside the general moving load.
Moving From UNILAG to Another City
Some students need more than a short Lagos relocation.
If you are completing your programme or going home for an extended period, your belongings may need to move from Lagos to Abuja, Ibadan, Benin City or another state.
Interstate student moves require better planning because vehicle type, distance, loading arrangements and delivery timing all affect the trip.
Travo.ng can help coordinate suitable transport and relocation arrangements rather than forcing students to organise different drivers independently.
