Waiting for an international flight to arrive in Nigeria can be stressful, especially when you are arranging airport pickup or meeting someone travelling from abroad. Flight schedules sometimes change because of weather, air traffic restrictions, or delays at departure airports.
Knowing how to track international flight in Nigeria helps you confirm arrival times, monitor delays, and avoid unnecessary waiting at the airport.
Whether the flight is landing in Lagos, Abuja, or Port Harcourt, checking its status before leaving home can save time and transport costs.
Where to Track International Flight in Nigeria
You do not need to visit the airport to confirm whether an international flight has departed or landed.
Several flight tracking platforms provide useful information about aircraft movements and expected arrival times.
Popular options include:
- FlightRadar24: Shows aircraft locations, flight routes, and estimated arrival times.
- FlightAware: Provides flight status updates, departure information, and possible delays.
- Airline websites: Allow passengers to check flight status using flight numbers and travel dates.
- Airport flight information: Provides scheduled arrivals and departures where available.
For example, someone expecting a British Airways flight from London Heathrow to Lagos can search using the flight number to check its progress.
Remember that flight tracking estimates can change, so confirm important updates with the airline.
How to Check International Flight Arrivals in Lagos and Abuja
Nigeria’s major international airports receive flights from destinations including London, Dubai, Doha, Istanbul, and Addis Ababa.
Two important arrival points are:
Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos: Handles international passengers travelling into Lagos and surrounding states.
Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja: Serves international travellers visiting the Federal Capital Territory and nearby cities.
To check an arriving flight, enter the airline name or flight number into a tracking platform.
Confirm the departure airport, destination, travel date, and estimated landing time.
A flight scheduled to arrive in Lagos at 5:30 a.m. might land later because of delays at its connecting airport.
Checking the updated arrival time helps you plan your journey instead of waiting unnecessarily.
When Should You Leave for Airport Pickup?
Tracking an aircraft is particularly useful when arranging airport pickup in Nigeria.
However, aircraft landing time is not the same as passenger pickup time.
International travellers must usually complete immigration checks, collect luggage, and pass through customs before leaving the terminal.
Depending on passenger traffic and baggage handling, this process can take 45 minutes to two hours or longer.
If you are travelling from Lekki or Victoria Island to Lagos airport, also consider road traffic, particularly around Oshodi and the airport access roads.
Travo.ng offers airport pickup and transport coordination services that can help travellers arrange their onward journeys.
What to Do When an International Flight Is Delayed
Flight delays can disrupt hotel reservations, business meetings, and scheduled transport.
When tracking shows a delay:
- Check the airline’s official flight status for confirmation.
- Inform whoever is arranging airport pickup.
- Adjust hotel check-in or onward travel plans where necessary.
- Keep monitoring the flight until its arrival is confirmed.
For connecting flights, check each flight segment separately because one delay can affect the entire journey.
