The Nyanya–Mararaba section sits on the Abuja–Keffi road, the main link between the FCT and Nasarawa State and part of the wider Abuja–Keffi–Makurdi route to the South-East. Large numbers of people live in Nyanya, Karu and Mararaba and commute into Abuja, so the road carries heavy commuter traffic as well as interstate buses and trucks. - The project is 2.6 km long and includes two flyover bridges across the Mararaba area plus a connecting elevated road.
- Five pedestrian bridges are planned so that people can cross without walking to the roundabouts.
- The total cost is put at about ₦43–44 billion: around ₦40 billion for construction, ₦1.1 billion for compensation and about ₦1 billion for road furniture such as markings, signs and street lights.
- Officials say the project could cut the Abuja to Keffi journey from over two hours to less than 40 minutes once finished.
Until then, expect lane closures, narrowed carriageways and occasional diversions around the work zones, particularly near Mararaba.
The federal Abuja–Keffi–Makurdi dualisation
Separately, the Federal Government is dualising the Abuja–Keffi–Makurdi road. In May 2025 the Minister of Works said the ₦72 billion contract, handled by China Harbour Engineering Company, would be ready by June 2026; at the time the Mararaba–Keffi section was reported as ongoing.
