Finding last minute flight deals Nigeria can be frustrating, especially when you need to travel urgently and ticket prices keep changing. Whether you’re flying from Lagos to Abuja for a business meeting or heading to Port Harcourt for a family emergency, booking close to departure requires careful planning.
Many Nigerian travellers assume last-minute flights are always expensive. While fares often increase as departure approaches, flexible travel times, alternative airlines, and quick booking decisions can sometimes help you find reasonable options.
Travo.ng helps travellers explore flight booking options and coordinate travel arrangements without unnecessary stress.
Where to Find Last Minute Flight Deals Nigeria
Domestic flight availability changes throughout the day, particularly on busy routes such as Lagos–Abuja, Abuja–Port Harcourt, and Lagos–Enugu.
When searching for affordable tickets, compare available departures rather than choosing the first flight displayed.
Consider these practical options:
- Check morning and afternoon departures for possible fare differences.
- Compare airlines operating your preferred route.
- Consider nearby travel dates if your schedule allows.
- Confirm baggage allowances before paying.
- Book immediately when you find a suitable fare.
Travellers leaving from Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos should also confirm their departure terminal before travelling.
How Much Do Last-Minute Domestic Flights Cost?
Flight prices in Nigeria depend on airline availability, travel dates, demand, and how close you book to departure.
A Lagos-to-Abuja ticket purchased several weeks ahead may cost considerably less than one booked hours before departure.
Prices can also rise during Christmas, Easter, public holidays, and periods when business travel increases.
Instead of relying on a fixed ticket price, request current fares and compare the total booking cost, including baggage charges and applicable fees.
For urgent journeys, paying slightly more for a convenient departure may be better than choosing a cheaper flight that disrupts your schedule.
Booking Flights Within 24 Hours of Departure
Travellers searching for same-day flights in Nigeria should prepare their booking information before checking availability.
Keep your passenger name, contact details, valid identification, and preferred departure time ready.
For domestic flights, your booking name should match your identification documents.
Also, allow sufficient time to reach the airport. Lagos traffic around Ikeja and airport access roads can become unpredictable during busy periods.
If you’re travelling from Lekki or Victoria Island, leaving early is particularly important.
Travo.ng can assist with flight booking enquiries and airport pickup arrangements, making urgent travel easier to coordinate.
Mistakes That Make Emergency Flight Bookings Expensive
One common mistake is waiting too long after finding an acceptable fare. Airline prices and available seats can change quickly.
Another is selecting the cheapest displayed ticket without checking baggage restrictions or departure conditions.
Travellers should also avoid booking the wrong airport, entering incorrect passenger details, or assuming a reservation is confirmed before payment and ticket issuance.
Always check your booking reference and airline confirmation before leaving for the airport.
Make Your Next Urgent Flight Booking Easier
Finding last minute flight deals Nigeria becomes easier when you know your travel priorities and act quickly.
If your journey includes an overnight stay, arranging hotel reservations alongside your flight can reduce last-minute pressure.
Business travellers may also benefit from coordinating airport transfers before arrival, particularly when meetings begin shortly after landing.
With Travo.ng, travellers can enquire about available flights, hotel bookings, and airport transport arrangements in one place.
Whether you’re travelling between Lagos and Abuja or planning an urgent trip to another Nigerian city, start your flight search early, compare available options, and confirm your booking before departure.
