Caverton Helicopters cargo enquiries need to describe the offshore or industrial mission, not only the parcel weight. Caverton’s published fleet information centres on offshore support. Ask its operations team to confirm whether your goods can be carried on the intended aircraft and to the receiving site.
Understand the published service
The official Caverton fleet page describes helicopters dedicated to offshore support and also describes fixed-wing passenger transfers. A utility aircraft’s general capabilities are not proof that Caverton offers a walk-in parcel service or a cargo configuration on your required date.
For business enquiries, identify the company, project and receiving facility. Ask who manages commercial acceptance and whether the movement falls under an existing offshore contract or requires a separate arrangement.
What to put in your offshore cargo brief
- Origin base and destination installation or airfield.
- Required delivery window and offshore contact person.
- Item descriptions, weights and packed dimensions.
- Whether the goods travel alongside personnel.
- Special handling, temperature or dangerous-goods information.
Give the dimensions of the largest item and the weight of the heaviest piece. Include a photograph of equipment and identify any fluid, battery or pressurised component. “Engineering spares” is too broad to establish acceptance.
Why the destination matters
Offshore delivery depends on more than distance. The operator needs to assess the receiving site, approved landing arrangements, available personnel, weather and aircraft performance. Ask the site team to coordinate with operations rather than assuming an aircraft can land whenever the cargo is ready.
Cabin carriage, baggage-compartment transport and external-load work are different operations. Do not infer sling-load capability from the presence of helicopters in a fleet. Request explicit confirmation of the permitted loading arrangement for the mission.
Quote the completed movement
Ask whether the quotation covers positioning, waiting time, landing charges, loading and unloading support and return sectors. Establish what happens if weather or site access prevents arrival. For an urgent offshore spare, agree who remains responsible for the goods until they reach the installation.
Heavy or bulky equipment may need a different transport plan, such as road and marine logistics or a suitably configured freight aircraft. Ask for a feasibility assessment before committing to helicopter transport.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send an ordinary parcel with Caverton?
A public retail cargo service is not established by the fleet information used here. Ask the company about acceptance and consider a courier for routine parcels.
Is passenger capacity the same as cargo payload?
No. The available load depends on aircraft configuration, fuel, operating conditions, personnel and approved loading limits.
Turn your enquiry into a workable shipping plan
For a component destined for an offshore operation, provide the receiving facility’s name, site contact and latest useful arrival time. The load assessment should cover packaging, dimensions, lifting points and any fluids or batteries. Ask the operator which information the receiving site must supply and whether additional handling approvals are required. A helicopter itinerary does not by itself settle loading, site access or onward movement. Keep the maintenance team informed of the confirmed plan so personnel and equipment are ready when the shipment arrives.
Compare the complete quotation
Ask for the total payable for the same shipment and delivery endpoint. A lower flight charge can leave screening, storage, handling and road transport to be paid separately. Identify who will notify the receiver when the cargo is ready and who pays for a delay in collection. Keep written acceptance with the booking reference before releasing the goods.
Our Pan African Airlines cargo guide discusses another industrial aviation enquiry, while the Aero Contractors guide distinguishes ordinary freight from specialist missions.
How Travo can assist
Travo’s haulage services can assess the road movement of bulky equipment, including the vehicle and loading support required. For goods entering Nigeria, our international shipping service offers freight coordination, customs support through licensed clearing partners and onward delivery. Agree how these ground arrangements connect with the operator’s charter plan and whether airport storage or a further transfer is needed.
Request a shipment plan from Travo with your collection and delivery addresses, goods description, dimensions, weight and deadline. Ask which services are included, which need separate approval and what the delivery estimate depends on. This lets you coordinate the ground journey with the airline’s confirmed acceptance.
