Airlink cargo booking starts with a freight request covering the goods, route and date. Its dedicated cargo division provides airport-to-airport transport using scheduled passenger flights, with direct and connecting options. Ask for acceptance of the actual load rather than assuming the passenger schedule confirms cargo space.
The current Airlink Cargo website offers a Quick Cargo Quote route, electronic air waybill access and Track & Trace. Airlink’s official freight page explains the cargo division’s regional role. Use the dedicated cargo channel for unaccompanied goods.
Get the right office and quotation
The cargo contact directory separates stations, helping you identify the team responsible for the departure and destination. Ask where the goods are accepted, which booking process applies and whether an account or agent is needed.
State whether the receiver will collect at an airport or requires delivery to an address. Airlink’s point-to-point and connecting transport offer does not automatically establish a road courier service after arrival.
Prepare a complete shipment brief
- Origin and destination, shipping date and delivery deadline.
- Contents, package count, gross weights and dimensions.
- Any batteries, liquids, chemicals, perishables or fragile items.
- Sender, receiver and destination collection contacts.
- Required airport handling, customs assistance or road delivery.
Direct or connecting air freight?
Ask whether the proposed routing uses one flight or a connection through another station. Confirm which legs are accepted and who handles the goods between them. For a time-sensitive spare, give the latest useful delivery time so the cargo team can assess the complete movement.
Regional aircraft and flight loads can impose practical piece and capacity restrictions. Send measurements for each package and ask about loading suitability before paying for packing or origin transfer. A total consignment weight alone can hide a piece that does not fit the proposed movement.
Airlink cargo rates and complete costs
Request the current quote for the final package measurements and contents. Check chargeable weight, minimum charges and included screening, documentation and terminal handling. Ask about quote validity and what happens if the load or departure changes.
Compare the same endpoint across providers. For a cross-border movement, agree the importer and clearance arrangements and identify destination charges. Ask about storage if the receiver cannot collect promptly and obtain a separate final-delivery price where required.
Choose the product for special goods
The cargo website lists express, perishable, live-animal, dangerous-goods, vulnerable-cargo and compassionate-remains services. Ask which product can accept the actual commodity on the proposed route. A service category is a starting point for assessment, not blanket approval.
Declare batteries, liquids, temperature requirements and fragile contents in the enquiry. For sensitive goods, request handling instructions for origin waiting, transfer and destination release. Make sure the receiving team can provide suitable onward transport or storage.
Handover, waybill and tracking
Get the receiving address, office hours and cutoff before dispatch. Retain the accepted booking reference and packing list and check the package count at handover. Notify the team of changed load details before acceptance.
Use the official Airlink Cargo tracking and electronic waybill links for the relevant shipment. Ask the booking contact how to follow up a delayed update or split consignment. Keep the transport reference and piece count available when requesting assistance.
Airlink cargo questions
Can I use passenger booking to reserve freight?
Use the dedicated cargo quotation and acceptance process instead.
Does a regional flight accept any box?
Ask for the package and contents assessment for the actual aircraft and movement.
Does an arrival update mean my cargo can be collected?
Confirm release, clearance and outstanding charges with the local cargo team.
Turn your enquiry into a workable shipping plan
For a component travelling to a regional business, compare the direct and connecting options against when the receiver can actually collect it. A convenient arrival airport may still need a long road transfer. Give the cargo team the largest piece’s dimensions and explain whether a different airport would meet the deadline. For a retailer sending several orders, confirm how separate consignee details and package counts should be recorded. These details help establish a practical movement rather than a flight-only plan.
Compare the complete quotation
Ask for the total payable for the same shipment and delivery endpoint. A lower flight charge can leave screening, storage, handling and road transport to be paid separately. Check the quotation’s expiry date, payment currency and what happens if the flight changes. Identify who will notify the receiver when the cargo is ready and who pays for a delay in collection. Keep written acceptance with the booking reference before releasing the goods.
Our SAA cargo booking guide provides a separate South African freight comparison, while the BidAir guide explains airport collection planning.
How Travo can assist
For a consignment travelling into or out of Nigeria, Travo’s international shipping service offers freight coordination, supplier collection and consolidation, customs support through licensed clearing partners and onward delivery. If imported stock needs holding before distribution, ask about warehouse storage and fulfilment. Request the scope for your actual origin and destination, including any overseas partner arrangements and local delivery charges.
Request a shipment plan from Travo with your collection and delivery addresses, goods description, dimensions, weight and deadline. Ask which services are included, which need separate approval and what the delivery estimate depends on. This lets you coordinate the ground journey with the airline’s confirmed acceptance.
