Nobody enjoys spending hours on a flight or interstate bus in an uncomfortable seat. Whether you’re travelling from Lagos to Abuja for business or taking a long road trip to Enugu, choosing where you sit can make a noticeable difference.
When you book seat selection in Nigeria, you have a better chance of getting your preferred position instead of accepting whatever remains available at departure.
Travo.ng helps travellers coordinate flight bookings and transport arrangements, making it easier to plan journeys around comfort, convenience, and personal preferences.
How to Book Seat Selection in Nigeria
Seat selection depends on the airline or transport operator you’re travelling with. Some operators allow passengers to choose seats during booking, while others assign seats automatically.
For domestic flights, seat selection may be available when purchasing your ticket, managing your reservation, or checking in online.
For interstate bus journeys, certain transport companies allow passengers to select available seats before payment.
Before confirming your reservation:
- Check whether your preferred seat is available.
- Confirm if seat selection attracts additional charges.
- Review the seating arrangement before making payment.
- Ensure your chosen seat appears on your booking confirmation.
- Ask about restrictions affecting front-row or emergency-exit seats.
Booking early usually gives you more options, especially during busy travel periods.
Choosing the Right Seat for Nigerian Domestic Flights
Passengers flying between Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and other Nigerian cities often have different seating preferences.
A window seat is suitable for travellers who enjoy outside views or prefer fewer interruptions.
An aisle seat works better for passengers who want easier access to the restroom or prefer moving around without disturbing others.
Travellers who need additional legroom can check whether their airline offers extra-space seating.
However, these seats may cost more, and emergency-exit rows have specific eligibility requirements.
If you’re travelling with children or elderly relatives, consider choosing seats together during booking rather than waiting until airport check-in.
Getting a Comfortable Seat for Interstate Bus Travel
Seat position becomes particularly important during long road journeys.
A passenger travelling from Lagos to Benin City may spend several hours on the road, depending on traffic and road conditions.
For longer journeys to Abuja, Enugu, or Port Harcourt, comfort becomes even more important.
Front seats may appeal to passengers who prefer forward visibility, while middle seats can feel more stable on uneven roads.
Travellers who experience motion sickness often prefer sitting closer to the front.
Before paying, confirm whether the operator uses assigned seating. Some services operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
When Should You Reserve Your Preferred Seat?
Waiting until departure day can limit your choices.
During Christmas, Easter, public holidays, and major festive celebrations, popular routes experience increased demand.
Flights between Lagos and Abuja can also attract heavy business travel during weekdays.
For better availability, consider selecting your seat when purchasing your ticket.
If your airline allows seat selection only during online check-in, confirm when check-in opens and complete the process promptly.
Remember that airlines may change assigned seats for operational or safety reasons.
