A camera behind the rear-view mirror can make a windscreen replacement more involved than removing and refitting glass. ADAS means advanced driver assistance systems. Depending on the vehicle, these can include lane-related warnings, collision assistance or automatic lighting. Their presence, sensors and service requirements vary by model, year and market specification.

Does my car have ADAS?

Check the owner’s manual, vehicle equipment information and the exact model specification. Do not assume every car with cruise control has a windscreen-mounted camera, or that a visible camera is necessarily an original safety-system camera rather than a dashcam. Give the technician the vehicle identification details through a verified booking channel when required for parts matching.

A dashboard warning, previous collision or earlier glass replacement is useful history. State these before requesting a calibration price. The work required may involve diagnosis beyond the replacement itself. A repairer should identify the manufacturer’s applicable procedure rather than apply one rule to every brand.

Is calibration required after replacing a windscreen?

Follow the vehicle maker’s instructions. For example, Toyota’s 2026 bZ driving-support manual requires front-camera recalibration after windscreen replacement. That is a model-specific example, not proof that every Toyota or every vehicle uses the same method. Ask for the procedure relevant to your actual car.

Static and dynamic calibration are different processes, and the manufacturer may require a particular method or combination. A scan or warning-light reset alone is not evidence that calibration has been completed. The handover should explain what was done, its result and any unresolved faults. This is work for suitably equipped technicians, not an owner’s road-test experiment.

OEM versus aftermarket windscreen glass

A vehicle-branded genuine part, a glass manufacturer’s replacement part and an unverified generic pane should not be treated as interchangeable descriptions. Ask for the actual brand, part reference, conformity information and compatibility with your equipment. A label saying “OEM quality” does not by itself identify who made the glass or which specification it meets.

AGC’s replacement-glass information describes replacement glazing with different optical, acoustic, heated and display-related features. Match the required functions to the vehicle. Do not downgrade a specified camera-compatible or head-up-display windscreen merely because another pane appears to fit the opening.

How much does windscreen calibration cost in Lagos?

Request a written quote for your exact vehicle rather than a universal calibration tariff. Establish whether glass, fitting, scanning, calibration and any follow-up work are included. A cheaper glass-only price is not directly comparable with a complete camera-equipped replacement. Compare the full windscreen replacement cost before approving the work.

Ask whether calibration will be completed at the fitting location or needs a separate workshop appointment. If it cannot be completed, confirm the next step before the vehicle is handed back for normal use. The absence of a dashboard warning is not a substitute for the required documented procedure.
