Reviewed 7 October 2026. Confirm the operator’s current tariff and your airline’s terminal instructions for your travel date.

Searching for Abuja international airport parking rates often produces several apparently conflicting prices. Some describe a different airport; others concern entry to the airport road, a commercial taxi licence or a penalty. Before using a figure to budget your journey, establish what it buys and which operator issued it.

This guide explains how to check Abuja airport parking new charges, read a tariff and compare a short visit with a longer stay. It does not present an unverified price as today’s official rate.

Four charges that are easily confused

ChargeWhat to check
Passenger-car parkingVehicle class, charging period and duration inside the car park
Airport-road access or tollEntry conditions and whether parking is separately billed
Cab-operator operational tariffCommercial operator terms; not a universal private-car parking rate
Penalty or lost-ticket feeThe triggering condition, separately from ordinary parking

A price headed “parking” on an aviation page may even concern an aircraft rather than a road vehicle. Look for references to cars, the actual facility and the entrance notice. Do not apply a weight-based aircraft charge to your car.

What the June 2026 cab-tariff report actually says

A TheCable report dated 23 June 2026 describes a FAAN operational tariff increase for airport cab operators from ₦500 to ₦1,500, alongside vehicle-standard discussions involving operators at Lagos and Abuja. That is evidence about a commercial cab charge, rather than a confirmed hourly tariff for a passenger’s parked car.

If a transport provider refers to that change when quoting a transfer, ask whether its effect is already included in your agreed journey price. It should not be silently added again as a supposed standard parking fee. Obtain a clear explanation of any separate waiting, entry or parking item.

How to verify an Abuja airport parking price increase

Ask for a current notice identifying the facility, issuing operator and effective date. Then match the notice to your vehicle and stay. A dated news story is useful context, but it may be superseded by a later tariff. A forwarded photo without a location or date is not enough to establish the charge for your trip.

  • Confirm the terminal and car park covered by the notice.
  • Check whether the price includes the first hour, part of an hour or a different period.
  • Ask whether there are different prices for saloons, SUVs or buses.
  • Identify overnight rules and the boundary at which a new day starts.
  • Check payment or processing charges and the receipt you will receive.
  • Ask whether a pre-agreed booking retains its price after a tariff change.

Reading short-stay and overnight conditions

For a pickup, calculate your expected waiting period rather than the flight’s landing time alone. A short visit may cross into another chargeable period. Ask whether each extra period is billed in full, whether re-entry creates a new ticket and whether a minimum payment applies.

For an overnight stay, find out whether the overnight fee replaces hourly billing or is added to it. Ask what happens when you collect the car later than expected. Our daily, weekly and monthly parking planning guide includes a calculator using your own confirmed daily quote and additional costs.

Payment methods: prepare before reaching the barrier

The official FAAN GoCashless FAQ describes the airport contactless card and bank-card options, with access-gate e-tags also listed. It identifies car parks among payment points and includes Abuja in its coverage. Confirm the method operating at your chosen facility, any applicable processing fee and how to resolve a failed payment.

Keep the entry record and receipt. If a payment fails, ask the authorised attendant to confirm its status before paying again. A payment alert alone may not explain why the gate remains closed. Retain the reference needed to follow up through the operator’s official support channel.

Compare the total cost before deciding

Use the same dates, vehicle and collection time for every quote. Parking that looks cheaper per hour can cost more if a transfer to the terminal is extra. A return airport pickup can also be better value than a long stay, depending on your starting address and the actual parking package.

See cheap Abuja airport parking and alternatives for a full-cost comparison. For terminal directions and collection planning, start with the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport parking guide. Keep the security and access conditions alongside the price so you are comparing a service you can actually use.

Ask Travo for an itemised transport quote

Travo’s Abuja airport services include pre-arranged pickups, drop-offs and meet-and-greet options. Share your flight, terminal, address, passengers and bags. Ask what the quoted price covers, including waiting and any parking or entry charges. For the booking approach, read fixed-rate Abuja airport transfers.

Parking price questions

Are Lagos MMA2 rates the Abuja airport rate?

No. They concern a different facility and operator. Use Abuja-specific confirmation for your trip.

Does the ₦1,500 cab tariff prove my car parking charge?

No. The June 2026 report concerns cab operators. Confirm the passenger-car tariff separately.

Can I avoid a charge by stopping on an access road?

Follow airport signs and staff instructions. Use an authorised drop-off area or designated parking rather than blocking vehicle movement.
