FlySafair cargo booking is a freight enquiry, separate from reserving a passenger seat or paying for extra baggage. Send the goods description, dimensions, origin, destination and intended date to the responsible cargo agent. Ask for acceptance and a complete quote before arranging handover.

BidAir Cargo’s official network website includes a FlySafair network entry. Its published FlySafair schedule document provides a cargo enquiry reference, but it is dated and should not be used as a current departure guarantee. Confirm the latest station coverage and available capacity directly with BidAir.

FlySafair cargo or Safair charter?

A parcel carried in the hold of a passenger service and a dedicated cargo charter are different arrangements. If you need an individual consignment moved, ask for the airport cargo booking process. If you need an aircraft for a large or unusual load, request a specialist charter assessment rather than using the passenger website.

Our Safair Operations cargo charter guide explains the separate specialist enquiry. The similar names should not lead you to assume the same aircraft, booking team or cargo capabilities apply to every request.

Prepare a complete shipment brief

  • Origin and destination, shipping date and delivery deadline.
  • Contents, package count, gross weights and dimensions.
  • Any batteries, liquids, chemicals, perishables or fragile items.
  • Sender, receiver and destination collection contacts.
  • Required airport handling, customs assistance or road delivery.

What the cargo agent needs to confirm

Ask whether your contents and package size are accepted on the actual route. Passenger baggage limits do not establish the freight limit or the available cargo space. Identify the receiving office, handover cutoff and destination collection point before paying for transport toward the airport.

For multiple cartons, ask whether all pieces are confirmed together and how a part-shipment would be handled. If the recipient needs home delivery, arrange that leg explicitly. An airport movement alone does not establish a courier service to their address.

FlySafair cargo rates

Request a current freight quote based on the final packing measurements and weight. Ask for chargeable weight, minimum charges, screening, documentation and terminal handling. Passenger airfare promotions and baggage fees should not be used as cargo prices.

Compare the same service endpoints across providers. Check destination charges, storage terms, payment instructions and quote validity. For a cross-border shipment, agree who handles customs formalities and pays applicable charges.

Pack and declare the contents accurately

Tell the agent about batteries, liquids, food, medicine or fragile parts before the shipment is accepted. Ask which specialist restrictions or additional documents apply. For an irregularly shaped item, send photographs and dimensions before buying a crate.

Label every piece clearly and retain a packing list. If the dimensions, weight or contents change after the quote, notify the booking contact so acceptance can be reassessed. Do not conceal a restricted item within a general parcel description.

Airport release and onward delivery

Give the receiver the cargo contact, transport reference and required identification or authorisation. Ask when the consignment will be available and what happens if collection is delayed. The passenger flight’s arrival time is not automatically the cargo release time.

FlySafair cargo questions

Can I book cargo with an airline ticket?

No. Request freight-specific acceptance through the responsible cargo channel.

Does an old cargo schedule confirm availability?

No. Confirm the actual route and departure when booking.

Is a parcel booking a cargo charter?

No. A dedicated aircraft request needs a separate assessment and quotation.

Turn your enquiry into a workable shipping plan

For a retailer sending a parcel between South African cities, agree airport collection with the customer before selecting a flight. If the customer expects delivery at home, obtain a quotation for that additional leg and include it in the delivery promise. For an urgent component, tell the cargo agent the latest useful arrival time and ask how a changed departure would be handled. The appropriate service depends on the accepted goods and the complete journey, rather than the passenger fare on the same route.

Compare the complete quotation

Ask for the total payable for the same shipment and delivery endpoint. A lower flight charge can leave screening, storage, handling and road transport to be paid separately. Check the quotation’s expiry date, payment currency and what happens if the flight changes. Identify who will notify the receiver when the cargo is ready and who pays for a delay in collection. Keep written acceptance with the booking reference before releasing the goods.

Our BidAir Cargo booking guide covers the agent’s role, receiving instructions and collection planning in more detail.

How Travo can assist

For a consignment travelling into or out of Nigeria, Travo’s international shipping service offers freight coordination, supplier collection and consolidation, customs support through licensed clearing partners and onward delivery. If imported stock needs holding before distribution, ask about warehouse storage and fulfilment. Request the scope for your actual origin and destination, including any overseas partner arrangements and local delivery charges.

Request a shipment plan from Travo with your collection and delivery addresses, goods description, dimensions, weight and deadline. Ask which services are included, which need separate approval and what the delivery estimate depends on. This lets you coordinate the ground journey with the airline’s confirmed acceptance.
