Africa World Airlines cargo in Ghana includes an airport-to-airport courier service for documents and small parcels. This can be useful when an item needs to reach another domestic city and you do not need to travel with it. Arrange delivery to the airport and destination collection as separate parts of the journey.

The official AWA website describes its domestic courier service and directs enquiries to concerns@flyafricaworld.com. It names Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi and Tamale in the service description. Confirm the current operating route and acceptance for your shipping date; the courier offer should not be assumed to apply to every regional passenger route.

How AWA cargo booking works

Contact AWA before bringing the parcel to an airport office. Give the contents, route, desired date, weight and dimensions. Ask for the current receiving office, cutoff time and available flight arrangement. The published service involves package submission at domestic airport offices and mandatory security checks.

Clearly distinguish an unaccompanied parcel enquiry from a passenger reservation or lost-baggage request. The official contact directory lists station offices and customer-service channels for confirmation.

What can you send?

The airline describes documents and small parcels as the courier use case. Restricted items are not eligible merely because they fit in a small box. Describe batteries, liquids, chemicals, medicines, fragile equipment or valuables before dispatch and ask whether they can be accepted.

  • Use secure packaging appropriate to the contents.
  • Measure and weigh the packed parcel.
  • Provide the sender and recipient’s names and reachable phone numbers.
  • Ask what identification and shipment documentation are required.
  • Arrange a recipient who can collect at the destination airport.

AWA cargo Ghana charges

The official service description currently displays a starting charge of GHS 140 plus GHS 34 per kilogram. Treat this as published information to confirm with AWA, not a guaranteed quotation: ask how the starting charge is applied, what the final amount includes and whether your package qualifies.

A passenger’s excess baggage fee is a different charge. Do not estimate unaccompanied courier costs from a baggage allowance or passenger fare. For an unusually large consignment, request an assessment instead of multiplying a small-parcel rate by its weight.

Collection and delivery planning

Airport-to-airport means the recipient needs a collection plan. Before shipping, confirm where the parcel will be released, what reference and identification must be presented and the opening hours. Ask how the receiver will be notified and what happens if the intended flight changes.

Flight time is only one part of the total journey. Collection from the sender, airport acceptance, security screening and travel from the arrival airport can take longer than the flight itself. Allow that time when promising a delivery deadline.

Africa World Airlines air freight questions

Do I need to buy a passenger ticket?

The published courier offer serves senders who are not travelling. Confirm the parcel process directly.

Does AWA collect from my house?

The published service is airport-to-airport. Arrange road collection and delivery separately unless expressly included in a written offer.

Can I ship a parcel internationally?

Ask for explicit acceptance of the route; the domestic courier description does not establish an international freight service.

Turn your enquiry into a workable shipping plan

If you are sending a small parcel between Ghanaian cities, agree airport collection with the recipient before booking. They should know which office receives arriving goods, its opening hours and the identification or reference required. For several customer orders, ask whether parcels can be accepted together and how each receiver’s details should be recorded. The published pricing structure is a starting point; request the current total for the actual package. If delivery to a home or business is required, arrange that leg separately.

Compare the complete quotation

Ask for the total payable for the same shipment and delivery endpoint. A lower flight charge can leave screening, storage, handling and road transport to be paid separately. Check the quotation’s expiry date, payment currency and what happens if the flight changes. Identify who will notify the receiver when the cargo is ready and who pays for a delay in collection. Keep written acceptance with the booking reference before releasing the goods.

How Travo can assist

For a Ghana–Nigeria commercial shipment, ask Travo international shipping to assess the freight coordination and Nigerian customs and delivery requirements. Businesses distributing goods after arrival can request business delivery or storage and fulfilment in the supported Nigerian service area. Confirm the origin arrangements separately; a Nigerian delivery offer does not establish local airport collection or delivery within Ghana.

Request a shipment plan from Travo with your collection and delivery addresses, goods description, dimensions, weight and deadline. Ask which services are included, which need separate approval and what the delivery estimate depends on. This lets you coordinate the ground journey with the airline’s confirmed acceptance.
