Safair cargo enquiries are best directed to Safair Operations when you need dedicated freight capacity or specialist airlift. Its published fleet includes freighter and combi aircraft, alongside Hercules aircraft. Specify the cargo mission so the team can assess the appropriate aircraft and operating plan.

Safair Operations and FlySafair booking

Safair Operations advertises specialist aviation, aircraft leasing and airlift services. A FlySafair passenger booking is a different enquiry from arranging a cargo charter. Use the Safair Operations services enquiry route for a freight requirement.

Explain whether you need an ad hoc flight, repeated cargo rotations or aircraft capacity over a contract period. A one-off shipment and a longer aircraft leasing arrangement require different quotations and operational planning.

Which freight details should you send?

Start with departure and arrival airports, commodity, piece count and packed weight and dimensions. Include the required delivery time, not only the requested take-off date. If the destination is a remote site, give precise airfield details and the arrangements available to receive the load.

Safair’s fleet listing includes Boeing 737-400 freighter and combi types and the Hercules L100-30. Ask the team which configuration is available and appropriate for your mission. Do not assume an aircraft’s published maximum payload is achievable for your route.

Planning an industrial or remote-site movement

For equipment, document the heaviest item, dimensions, lifting points and any loading constraints. For remote delivery, the operator needs to assess runway suitability, access, fuel and unloading support. A specialist aircraft capability does not remove the need for an approved airfield and safe loading plan.

Relief goods also need accurate manifests and a named receiving organisation. Identify items requiring temperature control or special acceptance separately; general descriptions such as “supplies” are insufficient for a technical assessment.

What does a cargo charter quote include?

  • Operating carrier, aircraft type and approved load.
  • Route, planned stops and arrival window.
  • Repositioning, fuel and airport charges.
  • Loading, unloading and handling arrangements.
  • Permit responsibilities and cancellation terms.

Clarify customs and final-mile transport separately. If the quotation is airport-to-airport, you still need a plan to deliver the cargo to the origin terminal and collect it at destination.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send a single parcel with Safair?

Ask whether a cargo agent or scheduled freight option is available for your route. Specialist charter services are not automatically a retail parcel product.

Does Safair Operations publish cargo rates?

Obtain a mission-specific quotation. Aircraft positioning, route, load and handling requirements determine the commercial offer.

Turn your enquiry into a workable shipping plan

A charter for an unusually shaped industrial item needs more than total tonnage. Give the operator the largest piece’s dimensions, centre-of-gravity information if available, lifting points and any requirement for ramps or loading equipment. If staff must accompany the cargo, state that at the enquiry stage so the operator can assess a suitable configuration. For a remote destination, include runway and ground-handling information you can obtain from the receiving site. Let the operator determine feasibility before you commit to an arrival date.

Compare the complete quotation

Ask for the total payable for the same shipment and delivery endpoint. A lower flight charge can leave screening, storage, handling and road transport to be paid separately. Identify who will notify the receiver when the cargo is ready and who pays for a delay in collection. Keep written acceptance with the booking reference before releasing the goods.

For scheduled freight enquiries, our Star Air Cargo guide covers a different service model; aircraft and loading options require separate confirmation.

How Travo can assist

Travo’s haulage services can assess the road movement of bulky equipment, including the vehicle and loading support required. For goods entering Nigeria, our international shipping service offers freight coordination, customs support through licensed clearing partners and onward delivery. Agree how these ground arrangements connect with the operator’s charter plan and whether airport storage or a further transfer is needed.

Request a shipment plan from Travo with your collection and delivery addresses, goods description, dimensions, weight and deadline. Ask which services are included, which need separate approval and what the delivery estimate depends on. This lets you coordinate the ground journey with the airline’s confirmed acceptance.
