Once the vehicle has started, remove the cables in the reverse order:
- Remove the black clamp from the previously discharged vehicle’s grounding point.
- Remove the black clamp from the working battery.
- Remove the red clamp from the working battery.
- Remove the red clamp from the previously discharged battery.
Make sure the clamps do not touch metal components or each other while being removed.

Keep the vehicle running for a while or drive it, where safe and appropriate, to allow the charging system to replenish the battery.
However, a jump start does not necessarily fix the underlying problem. If the battery repeatedly goes flat, have the battery and charging system checked.
