Update, 2 October 2026: Uber has left Nigeria

Uber stopped operating in Nigeria on 2 September 2026, so the Uber app no longer takes rides, deliveries or new drivers here. The Uber details below are kept for reference only. Bolt and inDrive still operate, or you can book a vetted driver on Travo. Compare options in our guide to Uber alternatives in Nigeria.

With Uber no longer operating in Nigeria, passengers need alternative options for everyday transportation, airport transfers and business trips. Nigeria still has several ride-hailing platforms serving major cities, including Bolt, inDrive, LagRide and other local operators.

Bolt

Bolt is one of the most established alternatives to Uber in Nigeria. It is available in several major cities and offers app-based rides for commuters, business travellers and other passengers.

For many former Uber users, Bolt is the closest replacement for booking regular rides through an app.

inDrive

inDrive is another popular option. Unlike traditional fixed-fare ride-hailing, passengers can propose or negotiate a fare with drivers.

This can be useful for longer journeys or when you want greater control over the price.

LagRide

LagRide is a Lagos-focused option backed by the Lagos State Government. It provides another choice for passengers travelling within Lagos.

Its coverage is more limited than platforms operating across multiple Nigerian cities, so availability depends on where you are travelling.

Other Local Ride-Hailing Services

Nigeria also has other local mobility companies serving selected cities and routes. Availability, vehicle supply and fares can vary considerably between Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and other locations.

It is useful to keep more than one ride-hailing app installed so you can compare availability and fares before booking.

Which Uber Alternative Should You Use?

For a general replacement, Bolt is a strong option because of its established presence in Nigeria.

If you prefer negotiating fares, inDrive is worth considering. In Lagos, LagRide provides another local alternative.

Always check the driver’s name, vehicle details and number plate before entering the vehicle. For airport trips and important appointments, arrange transportation early where possible.
