Travelling out of Lagos for several days comes with one important decision: where do you leave your car? For passengers who prefer driving themselves to the airport, finding reliable long stay airport parking in Lagos can make the difference between a smooth departure and unnecessary stress.
Whether you’re flying from Murtala Muhammed International Airport for a business trip or taking a domestic flight from MMA2, planning your parking arrangements before departure helps you avoid last-minute complications.
Where Can You Park Your Car for Several Days at Lagos Airport?
Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja serves both domestic and international travellers. Parking facilities are available around the airport environment, but not every parking area is suitable for leaving a vehicle overnight or for several days.
Some facilities are designed primarily for short visits, passenger drop-offs, or hourly parking.
Before choosing a location, confirm whether the operator permits extended parking and whether overnight vehicle storage is available.
Travellers should consider:
- Parking facilities within approved airport premises
- Privately operated parking locations around Ikeja
- Hotels offering extended parking arrangements
- Secure off-airport facilities with airport transfer options
Always verify the parking operator’s legitimacy, security arrangements, and operating hours before making payment.
How Much Does Long Stay Airport Parking Cost in Lagos?
Parking charges depend on the facility, vehicle type, security arrangements, and number of days involved.
A three-day business trip to Abuja will naturally require a different parking arrangement from a two-week international holiday.
Some operators charge daily rates, while others may offer negotiated prices for extended stays.
Before booking, request a complete quotation covering parking duration, overnight charges, additional fees, and late vehicle collection.
For example, a hypothetical daily charge of ₦5,000 would amount to ₦25,000 for five days. This is an illustration, not a verified airport parking tariff.
Compare the total cost with airport pickup and drop-off services before deciding whether driving is worthwhile.
What to Check Before Leaving Your Car Overnight
Security should come before convenience when choosing long stay airport parking in Lagos.
A parking location may be close to the terminal but still lack the arrangements needed for extended vehicle storage.
Check whether the facility provides controlled entry, security personnel, CCTV coverage, and a clear vehicle collection procedure.
Also confirm whether staff will require your car keys and who takes responsibility if the vehicle is damaged.
Remove valuables, photograph your vehicle’s condition, and keep your parking receipt somewhere accessible.
During busy travel periods, particularly December and major public holidays, arrange parking early because availability can become limited.
Is Airport Parking Better Than Booking a Transfer?
Driving to the airport makes sense when you need flexibility, especially for early departures or late arrivals.
However, extended parking isn’t always the most economical option.
For travellers leaving Lagos for seven days or longer, a prearranged airport transfer may eliminate parking charges entirely.
Traffic around Oshodi, Airport Road, and Ikeja can also affect arrival times. Allow additional travel time during weekday rush hours.
Through Travo.ng, travellers can enquire about airport pickup coordination, vehicle hire, and travel arrangements instead of worrying about leaving their personal vehicles behind.
This is particularly useful for families travelling with luggage or business travellers returning after several days.
Plan Your Airport Parking Before Departure
The safest approach is to confirm parking availability, total charges, security conditions, and collection procedures before travelling.
If suitable long-term parking is unavailable, consider arranging transportation instead.
