Finding cheap airport parking in Lagos can be frustrating, especially when you have an early flight, heavy luggage, or plans to leave your car for several days. Between airport traffic, parking charges, and concerns about vehicle security, getting to the airport requires more planning than many travellers expect.
Whether you’re flying from Murtala Muhammed International Airport or the domestic terminals in Ikeja, knowing where to park and when to consider an airport transfer can save you money and unnecessary stress.
Where Can You Find Affordable Airport Parking in Lagos?
Most travellers flying from Lagos use Murtala Muhammed Airport, which serves domestic and international passengers.
Parking options vary depending on your departure terminal.
Murtala Muhammed International Airport
Travellers departing internationally can use designated airport parking areas. However, parking arrangements, charges, and availability may change, particularly during busy travel periods.
MMA2 Domestic Terminal
MMA2 has organised parking facilities for passengers and visitors. It’s convenient for short visits, although leaving a vehicle for several days may become expensive.
Other Domestic Terminal Parking Areas
Passengers using other domestic airport facilities should confirm available parking spaces and applicable charges before arriving.
Always verify that a parking area is officially authorised before leaving your vehicle.
How Much Should You Budget for Airport Parking?
Parking costs depend on the terminal, duration, and facility.
For budgeting purposes, consider this illustrative example rather than an official airport tariff:
| Parking Duration | Example Budget |
|---|---|
| 1–2 hours | ₦500–₦1,500 |
| 3–6 hours | ₦1,500–₦3,000 |
| Full day | ₦3,000–₦6,000 |
| Three days | ₦9,000–₦18,000 |
These figures are hypothetical planning estimates, not verified current parking rates.
If you’re travelling for a week, compare the total parking cost with a return airport transfer before deciding to drive.
When Airport Pickup Is Cheaper Than Leaving Your Car
Imagine you’re travelling from Lekki to Abuja for four days.
Driving to the airport means paying for fuel, parking, and possibly additional transport between parking facilities and your terminal.
Instead, you could arrange an airport drop-off and a return pickup.
With Travo.ng airport pickup and transport coordination services, travellers can enquire about suitable transport arrangements without worrying about leaving their personal vehicles at the airport.
This is particularly useful for families, business travellers, and passengers carrying multiple suitcases.
Avoid These Common Lagos Airport Parking Mistakes
The cheapest parking space isn’t necessarily the best option.
Before choosing where to leave your vehicle:
- Confirm whether overnight parking is permitted.
- Ask about security arrangements and operating hours.
- Check whether charges accumulate hourly or daily.
- Avoid unauthorised roadside parking around airport access roads.
- Allow extra travel time when approaching Ikeja during rush hour.
Passengers travelling from Ajah, Victoria Island, or Festac should also account for unpredictable traffic around major Lagos routes.
Getting to the Airport Without Parking Stress
For early departures, arranging transport ahead of time can be more convenient than searching for parking after arriving.
A passenger with a 7 a.m. domestic flight, for example, should plan their departure around airline check-in requirements and possible traffic delays.
Travo.ng can help travellers enquire about airport pickups, vehicle hire, and transport arrangements suited to their journey.
Instead of automatically paying for several days of parking, compare your options and choose what makes financial sense.
