Abuja waste coverage map: who cleans your district?
The FCT's six area councils with real boundaries — and the AEPB city districts from Maitama to Wuye. See how your area is serviced, how the contractor system works, and how to reach yours.
📌 What's exact and what's estimated: area boundaries are the six official FCT area council lines (open data: geoBoundaries, CC BY 4.0). Unlike Lagos, the FCT publishes no public contractor directory: AEPB engages ~40 cleaning contractors on district-lot concessions across the Federal Capital City (reported February 2025), and each contractor's name and phone are posted on the AEPB signboard in the district itself — lots also rotate on multi-year concessions. District lists here are well-known district/town names per council, not official ward boundaries. Sources: AEPB via NAN/Daily Trust. Spotted your district's signboard? Send us a photo and we'll add the contractor.
🏛️ How Abuja's system differs from Lagos
Lagos assigns licensed PSP operators to wards and publishes the list. Abuja's AEPB instead runs paid cleaning contractors on district lots in the city (Maitama, Asokoro, Garki, Guzape, Katampe, Wuse, Mabushi, Wuye, the Airport Road corridor, CBD and the Karu axis), while satellite towns fall to their area councils' sanitation departments and licensed estate contractors.
📞 Waste not being picked up?
City districts: your contractor's name, phone and supervisor are on the AEPB signboard in your district — that's the first call. Escalate to AEPB (headquarters: Area 3, Garki) with your district name. Satellite towns: your area council's environment/sanitation department. Estates: your facility manager's licensed contractor.
🚛 What the contractors don't do
Routine street cleaning and refuse evacuation is their lot — one-off loads aren't. House clearances, renovation debris, moving-day junk and event waste need a separate skip or truck. That's where Travo comes in ↓
